Application template fields

Reference for kind: ApplicationTemplate. How to deploy and instantiate a template is on Application templates.

The CLI parses spec in non-strict mode. Prefer the fields below. Extra keys may be ignored.

Deploy

metadata.name is required. Use lowercase alphanumeric characters. metadata.namespace, when set, must match -n.

Spec

Field	Type	Description
name	string	Optional copy of metadata.name.
description	string	Operator-facing summary.
variables	list	Template parameters.
variables[].key	string	Variable name referenced in the nested YAML.
variables[].description	string	Help text.
variables[].defaultValue	any	JSON-compatible default (scalar or object) used when an application deploy omits that variable.
variables[].value	any	Optional fixed value when the application does not override it.
application	object	Nested application spec: microservices, natsConfig, and the other application fields.

Quote placeholders in application, for example "{{agent-name}}". The Controller substitutes them when Application.spec.template supplies variables.

An application passes overrides as a list of {key, value} or as a map. See Application fields.

Create and update

	Create	Update
Trigger	The template name is not on the Controller.	The same metadata.name is deployed again.
Action	Create from YAML.	Update from YAML.

Updating the template does not redeploy applications already created from it.
